Boonville Statement

Boonville connects six American small towns of the same name, their diverse landscapes, and unique individuals, into one unifying view of America.

For one full year Briner was photographing and exploring portions of the continental United States, specifically six towns across the country named Boonville. Briner lived with families and individuals in the six towns for 4-7 weeks each.

The six Boonvilles, their evocative name, diverse geographical locations, and wide range in populations, including a once-thriving but now-extinct town in Texas and sprawling city of 8,000-plus in Missouri, informed and inspired his examination of the current state of life in America.

Boonville is underwritten by Cannery Works, a New York based non-profit arts organization. And was made possible by a Grant from the Hallmark Institute of Photography. Boonville was generously supported by family, friends, and arts patrons. Click HERE to donate.
